SHE CAME FROM OHIO (A Tribute to Sue Holden) by Don Beaudreault May 4, 2003
She came from Ohio - A teacher by trade She came to retire - But not to fade.
We’re beholden to Holden - Sue she be - For all she’s done Both big and wee.
From typing to filing To talking on phone To solving our problems - Those contentions of bone.
A Buddha is she - Serene – with intent: To help this community Pay for its rent.
A fan of the cinema, Both local and foreign; Her group studies them - Whether excitin’ or borin’.
She’s "Ms. Summer Services," Co-chairing the committee; Bringing in speakers Both brilliant and witty.
She’s organized the lectures With Smith and Shlain, And now with Pipher - Of best-selling fame.
She loves the potential Of each person she meets; Though that copy machine - She desires to beat.
Of golf and tennis She’s most enamored. She loves Tiger Woods, When others, he hammers.
She reads big tomes, Some - difficult stuff; She reads Ken Wilbur And Beaudreault’s fluff.
She’s done the logistics, She’s made the calls, She’s made things run here, Got us on the ball!
Sue’s helped us all In so many ways! Yes, let us applaud her And show her our praise!
